This is a complete port tour of Royal Caribbean’s custom built port of call in Jamaica, Falmouth. Most ports are developed by a city or island and grow over time. Falmouth on the other hand was created by a cruise line as a new destination for passengers. It is built on a new peninsula near the village of Falmouth about half way between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.

The port itself is fully developed and seperated from the rest of Jamaica. All workers within the port must be approved by Royal Caribbean and granted access to the area making it significantly more secure and welcoming an area than the other ports of call within Jamaica. The port first opened in the Fall of 2010 after being delayed by over 6 months from it’s original Spring date as part of the launch of Oasis of the Seas.

We visited the port on January 17th, 2014 while on board the Grandeur of the Seas and were alone in port, but it is built to easily handle two Oasis class vessels at once.
