Falmouth Craft Market Due Open By Mid 2013

Falmouth, Jamaica will be getting its own Falmouth Craft Market by the middle of this year 2013. This is a welcome though long overdue announcement. To make it even better for the vendors, the Craft Market will be located on the property of the Falmouth Pier. The old Hampden Wharf building that formerly stored rum and sugar for export and subsequently housed a hardware store is a large, historic building dating from the days of slavery and will be home to about 50 craft vendors. Falmouth Not Reaping Full Economic Benefits From The Pier July 17th will mark exactly 5 months since the first cruise ship (Voyager of the Seas) docked in Falmouth Jamaica. Since then, Falmouth has surpassed Ocho Rios as the number one cruise shipping port in Jamaica. FalmouthPO.com has been reliably informed that an election that started this morning to officially elect the President of the newly formed Trelawny Art and Craft Traders and Producers Association, was invaded  and halted by individuals who expressed dissatisfaction at the political persuasion of the persons up for selection. They also expressed the feeling that Falmouth was not being represented so opportunities will be controlled by outsiders. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Trelawny Art and Craft Traders and Producers Association came officially began in September 2010 as craft vendors organized themselves to take advantage of the potential opportunities from the new Falmouth Cruise ship pier and to lobby for a home for craft vendors evicted from Bamboo Village. Bamboo Village was the original home for most craft vendors in Trelawny, situated about 3 miles from Falmouth.
