MSC Poesia First Visit To Falmouth, Jamaica – Pictures

December 10, 2012 in Cruise Ship by Postmaster

On Sunday, Falmouth welcomed the luxury liner MSC Poesia to its port. It was also the first time a cruise ship was docking in Falmouth on a Sunday. When the ship from MSC Cruises fleet left at an early 3 o’clock, it left being dubbed the ‘wutliss’ (worthless) ship by one of the local cruise ship vendors I interviewed. This negative title is placed on any ship that does not generate much commerce locally. To commemorate the arrival of the MSC Peoria in Falmouth, Trelawny, Jamaica, here are a few photos I took with a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. These

January 3, 2011 in Falmouth News, Falmouth Pier by Postmaster

There was a big industrial action on the Falmouth Cruise Ship Pier construction today as workers walked off the job in protest for better wages. The cruise ship pier development should have been in high gear this week as the first ship is due to dock in 4 days time on the 7th of January when Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas, a smaller ship with fewer guests on board is expected to berth. Instead, the Falmouth construction site resembled a ghost town, with many of the workers congregated at the gate. Workers have long been complaining of mediocre wages

Many Opposed to The Pedestrianization of Water Square, Falmouth

November 18, 2010 in Falmouth News, Falmouth Pier by Postmaster

Ever since the pedestrianizing of Water Square was announced, there has been widespread debate in local circles as to whether or not it is a good idea. I went to a UDC meeting a couple of months ago and the meeting was set to discuss the proposed temporary changes in traffic plans for Falmouth to test its feasibility. Almost the entire meeting was spent debating the proposed pedestrianization with some business interests fervently opposed. The idea is to offer visitors traffic free movement to be able to enjoy their viewing and shopping experience without having to worry about safety when

Walmart Coming To The Falmouth Pier?

November 17, 2010 in Falmouth Pier by Postmaster

Image via Wikipedia Rumors are swirling around in Falmouth that the Waltons will be coming to the Falmouth Cruise Shipping Pier. Walmart, the largest retail chain in the world are rumored to be coming to the Falmouth Pier when construction on the multi-million dollar port  is completed. This re-enforces the fear of Falmouth businesses that they will gain little or nothing from the introduction of the pier. This is exemplified by the lack of preparedness from the local business community for the future opportunities that could possibly accrue from the Royal Caribbean Falmouth Cruise Shipping Pier. The pier already seems

Appoint an Impartial Project Coordinator for the Falmouth Pier Development

November 17, 2010 in Falmouth Pier by foodyb

Image via Wikipedia I read with much amusement (sic) today a story of Minister Montague criticizing the Trelawny Parish Council for its inability to communicate with the populace of Falmouth and the business community regarding the pier development, missed deadlines and most importantly the disjointed manner each agencies seem to go about the business of this important project. I could start by saying “I told you so”! When this project was announced in 2006, I dusted off my “College Project” I did several years prior on “Development of a Business”, the significance of this was I completed what was an
